Let joy be unbridled, I have a new story out and it is one I put a lot of time, effort and taste testing into.

The story can be found in the latest New Myths anthology The Growers, a Future Farmer’s Almanac available here
The anthology is a Best Of for New Myths, but they also asked for new stories around growing and farming to build on the theme and I had one called Mother Menzies’ Tablet from the Afore Times. It’s part dystopian future times SF, part advert, part ramble on the joy of family recipes and, importantly, a complaint about how hard I find making tablet.

For those of you who came to our Gallus launch at Worldcon in Glasgow in 2024, or met me later on as I forced the remains on people, you may remember tablet. It’s a Scottish homemade sweet of mostly sugar and, if you want to try making it yourself, this is the story for you.
Yes, that’s right, the whole tablet push at Worldcon was simply a cunning advertising campaign for this story.
This is actually the second time I’ve had a story published which delves into the murky world of baking, the first one can be read on my blog here: Unexpected Visitors
Let me know how your attempts to make tablet or cake go.
